A Devon Journey

Devon is a county in the South West of England. Along with Cornwall to which it is linked culturally, it is a land of myths, magic and mysteries. The beautiful Devon forests and Moors are reputed to be the homes of pixies and fairies and nefarious goblins. This may sound far fetched but I have actually met true Devonians who believe implicitly in these beings and who in fact say they have not only seen them, but have spoken to them too!!!!!

Devon is also famous for its cream teas and the marvellous Dartmoor national park. It has lots of wildlife including special birds like the Goosander, the magnificent Peregrine Falcon, the stream loving Dipper and the noble Raven. Dartmoor is famous for its free roaming ponies which are rounded up annually, wormed, treated for injuries, counted and released again to graze the moorland as they have done for countless centuries.

I hope these photos will show you some of the more interesting aspects of the county including the magnificent lions and tigers of Paignton zoo and the haunted pool at the Cann Quarry, where even on a sunny day, the mysterious green waters of the shady pool take the mind to the edge of the supernatural.
